Rumors have been flying about who the Florida Gators will target to replace Will Muschamp, and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney’s name has been thrown around. Swinney was asked about the opening after his No. 22 Tigers beat Georgia State 28-0. While he clearly stated his love for Clemson, he didn’t deny anything, either.
Dabo Swinney: “I’m not going to stand here and be a coach that goes, ‘I will never leave Clemson.’ That’s not genuine. I have no idea.”

Swinney talked at length about his job status at Clemson, making it sound like coaching in the ACC’s Death Valley is a dream job for him.

Florida athletic Director Jeremy Foley has said he won’t interfere with anyone’s season during his coaching search, so if the Gators are interested in Swinney they’ll be waiting until after Clemson takes on the South Carolina Gamecocks next weekend in the Palmetto Bowl. Swinney did sign an eight-year contract extension following last season, so it could be difficult for the Gators to pry him away.
