Arkansas running back Korliss Marshall will not return to the program in 2015, head coach Bret Bielema told ESPN on Tuesday.

The sophomore running back spent 2014 in and out of the dog house. He was twice suspended, and appeared in just six games. Marshall was a nice piece to the three-man backfield consisting of he, junior Jonathan Williams and sophomore Alex Collins.

“He’s never going to have the opportunity to play for the Razorbacks again, but hopefully this will be a steppingstone to something in the right direction instead of the wrong direction,” Bielema said.

Marshall will have a number of options from which to select. Bielema said he and Marshall discussed the possibility of a move to the Canadian Football League, in addition to transfer options.

“He’ll never be with us again,” Bielema told ESPN’s Alex Scarborough. “I met with him last night for 45 minutes to an hour just trying to narrow some schools down that he would like to take a peek at. We also looked at the Canadian Football League for him as well.”

Marshall’s two seasons in Fayetteville were tenuous, at best. The talented sophomore could never stay out of trouble off the field, though Bielema said he is hopeful Marshall will land on his feet.
