Bret Bielema said he promises the parents of potential recruits that he’ll look after their sons.

Arkansas’ coach lived up to the promise last Saturday.

According to a report from WholeHogSports, Bielema and his wife Jen accompanied junior offensive lineman Frank Ragnow on a flight home to Minnesota after his father died of a heart attack. Ragnow’s father died shortly after the Razorbacks beat Alcorn State 52-10.

“In recruiting I tell parents that I can’t promise them playing time, can’t promise them a degree,” Bielema said Monday during his weekly press conference, “but I tell them all the time I will look after your son, and I mean it.”

Ragnow will miss some practice time this week but is still expected to play in No. 16 Arkansas’ huge clash with No. 1 Alabama in Fayetteville on Saturday, Bielema said. Sophomore Zach Rogers will practice with the first team while Ragnow is away.
