Using ESPN’s FPI (Football Power Index) as a guide, Arkansas has a 63.9 percent chance to beat Texas Tech on Saturday.

BIG RUNNING GAME GIVES HOGS BEST CHANCE TO WIN

The Arkansas Razorbacks roll into Texas Tech this weekend to take on the Red Raiders in what would be a statement win for Bret Bielema and his team.

In order get a victory this weekend, the Hogs will need to roll into Texas Tech and roll right over their defense with their power running game. You know the names – Alex Collins, Jonathan Williams and Korliss Marshall. A three-headed rushing attack that features a little bit of power, speed and shiftiness.

With the exception of the second half against Auburn, Arkansas has run the ball for 646 yards in three halves of football. Last weekend, the 73-7 drubbing over Nicholls State featured a 495-yard ground game from the Hogs, including 130-plus yard performances from both Collins and Williams.

There’s no question who Bielema wants to lean on in his traditional, power offense in a raucous environment in Lubbock. His running backs are his best players. He’ll want the ball in their hands. Plus, against Texas Tech’s Air Raid offense the Hogs’ best defense may just be on offense by controlling time of possession and securing the football.

For a team who is looking to take that next step in Bielema’s rebuilding project, a road win over a respected program like Texas Tech would certainly qualify. And one must believe that if they are to be successful in coming out of Lubbock with a victory, their three-headed rushing attack will be the reason why.
