The Matchup: No. 5 Auburn (2-0) at No. 20 Kansas State (2-0)
The Venue: Bill Snyder Family Stadium
The Kick: 7:30 p.m. ET
TV: ESPN

Series Record: Auburn 3-0

Last Meeting: The first of this home-and-home matchup occurred in Auburn in 2007 with the Tigers winning that one 23-13.

Coaches: Gus Malzahn (14-2 overall), Bill Snyder (180-90-1 overall).

Last game (Auburn): Auburn had an easy time with Western Athletic Conference opponent San Jose State, defeating the Spartans 59-13. The Tigers gave up a few big plays on defense, but the offense rolled up over 450 yards of offense.

Last game (Kansas State): The Wildcats squeaked out a close 32-28 win over Iowa State in Ames. Quarterback Jake Waters threw for 239 yards and ran for a career-high 138 yards.

Auburn wins if: They can throw the football efficiently, and get off the field on third down on defense. It’s the first road test for the Tigers and they cannot afford to make any mental mistakes.

Kansas State wins if: Jake Waters has another big night against Ellis Johnson’s defense. Auburn’s front seven is improving, but they have to contain Waters if they have nay chance of winning.

What it means if Auburn wins: A Thursday night road win against a nationally-respected Kansas State team will go a long for the Tigers’ College Football Playoff hopes.

What it means if Kansas State wins: It would give Bill Snyder the program’s first win against a top-five team since they beat No. 4 Texas in 2006. A win against Auburn would make K-State a legitimate contender in the Big 12.
