Florida looked to be on its way to a disappointing 2017 recruiting class under coach Jim McElwain, but a fantastic National Signing Day close including a number of elite pledges has quickly turned the class into one of the nation’s finest.

The latest addition was the biggest surprise of them all, as four-star WR James Robinson has been admitted entry into the class. This news comes after Robinson was cited for marijuana possession during a recent recruiting trip to Ohio State. The Gators announced they would not be taking him following that incident but have since reversed course.

McElwain announced via Twitter that the Florida native would join the Gators next season:

The Gators must have decided the team couldn’t afford to keep him off their 2017 recruiting class, choosing to look past the minor offense and give the talented receiver a chance.

According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-4, 205-pound Lakeland native is the No. 14 wide receiver in the class of 2017 and the No. 21 overall recruit from the state of Florida.

Florida now has 11 4-star recruits in its 2017 class.
