For every highlight that former Florida receiver Demarcus Robinson had, he seemed to have a lowlight during his time with the Gators.

That’s why he felt the need to openly discuss the several off-the-field problems he had in college with reporters at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Robinson, suspended four times during his career at Florida, admitted that three of them were due to drugs in the early stage of his career that led to him being placed in a 45-day rehab program. He was “tested twice per week my sophomore year and tested twice per month my junior year.”

However, Robinson said his struggles with drugs have been non-existent since his freshman year.

The fourth suspension due to a violation of team rules that kept him out of last season’s game against Florida State was because he said he was approached by a “marketing lady” that offered him something that could be deemed impermissible benefits, although he didn’t reveal if he accepted anything.

That’s a lot of baggage for a player who said he considers himself a first-round talent. What he can do on the field won’t matter if he has a tough time getting on it in the first place, but Robinson said he wants people to know he’s changed.

According to NFL.com, Robinson’s grade of 5.6 is tied for the 9th-best among receivers in this year’s draft, along with former South Carolina receiver Pharoh Cooper and former Ohio State receiver Braxton Miller.
