According to numerous reports former University of Alabama staffer Rob Sale is close to being named Georgia’s offensive line coach.

The co-offensive coordinator/offensive line coach at McNeese State would replace Will Friend, who joined former Bulldogs offensive coordinator Mike Bobo’s staff at Colorado State.

Sale played for Nick Saban at LSU, making 25 starts including all 13 games his senior year (2002) at right guard. He joined the Alabama staff in 2007 and for four seasons served as a weight room assistant coach and offensive video analyst.

He joined McNeese State as the Cowboys’ offensive line coach in February 2012 and was promoted last year to co-offensive coordinator. According to FootballScoop.com he was a candidate for a similar position at LSU last year and recently for a position at Louisiana Tech.

ESPN and 247 Sports also reported that Sale has interviewed for the position and is considered the leading candidate.
