After suffering a string of decommitments in the last week, Kentucky’s 2015 recruiting class took a big step in the right direction by earning a commitment from three-star defensive end Joshua Allen.

Allen committed to Kentucky Friday night while on an official visit to UK, and John Fiore, Allen’s head coach at Montclair High School in New Jersey, confirmed the news on Twitter.

The Lexington Herald-Leader also received confirmation from Fiore regarding Allen’s commitment.

Allen is now the 16th commit in Kentucky’s current recruiting class. The Wildcats lost commitments from brothers David and Andrew Dowell earlier this week (a four-star safety and three-star tailback, respectively) as well as from three-star defensive end Tyrone Riley, who flipped his commitment to North Carolina State.

According to the Herald-Leader, Kentucky assistant coach Derrick Ansley flew to New Jersey Friday morning to meet Allen and his family and offer a scholarship. Allen headed to Lexington for an official visit just a few hours later, and by the the evening gave his commitment.
