The Kentucky Wildcats and tight ends coach Vince Marrow are in the process of finalizing a new three-year contract, sources told the Courier-Journal on Monday. The newspaper reported that details of the new deal and the coach has yet to sign as of Monday afternoon.

Marrow, who is also Kentucky’s top recruiter, joined Mark Stoops’ staff in 2013. The two coaches met throughout the weekend and with Kentucky AD Mitch Barnhart on Sunday night  after Michigan reached out to Marrow to join Jim Harbaugh’s new staff.

Stoops spoke with the new Michigan coach directly, a source told the Courier-Journal. According to the source, the coach found that Michigan’s interest in the assistant “was legit.” Stoops was reportedly “pretty concerned” of losing Marrow to the Wolverines and made keeping him a priority.

Marrow is Kentucky’s primary Ohio recruiter and is responsible for 21 commitments from the state, including six from the upcoming 2015 class. The former Cornhuskers graduate assistant also landed two Nebraksa transfers, Courtney Love and Greg Hart, who are also Ohio natives.
