In this week’s upset alert, unbeaten College Football Playoff favorite Mississippi State hopes to avoid a letdown against Arkansas before a heavyweight showdown with Alabama on Nov. 15:

ARKANSAS at No. 1 MISSISSIPPI STATE, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS — When will the SEC victory come for Bret Bielema? Credit Arkansas fans for having patience, a success-starved group that seems to believe in the current regime leading the Razorbacks. Arkansas hasn’t won a conference game since 2012, but is on the verge of competing based on what we’ve seen out of this group this fall. Mississippi State’s biggest nemesis is complacency and avoiding the dreaded look-ahead loss to an opponent it should beat by a couple of touchdowns. Much of the season will be decided on Nov. 15 in Tuscaloosa, but that tilt loses luster if the West frontrunner falls this afternoon. The Bulldogs are strong against the run — the Razorbacks’ strength — and boast an offense led by arguably the best player Arkansas has faced this season. Josh Robinson, the league’s top rusher, isn’t too shabby either. Mississippi State’s glaring weakness is its secondary, a unit that Kentucky exploited last week for 390 yards and a couple touchdowns through the air. If quarterback Brandon Allen provides a spark down the field for the Razorbacks, the Western Division’s last-place team has a shot in Starkville.
