Missouri added yet another touted defensive end to next year’s roster when three-star recruit Nate Howard flipped his commitment from Wisconsin to Mizzou late Friday night.

Howard announced his flip on KSDK in his hometown of St. Louis, Mo. He is regarded as the 30th-best defensive end prospect in the 2015 class and the seventh-best prospect at any position from the state of Missouri in the class.

The star defensive end made his official visit to Mizzou last weekend after making visits to Syracuse, Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. He’d been committed to the Badgers since last June before decommitting on Thursday.

Howard was recruited by Missouri defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski, who opted to stay at Missouri instead of taking a job at Illinois, and he and Mizzou cornerbacks coach Cornell Ford sold Howard on the Tigers. Meanwhile, Wisconsin head coach Gary Anderson departed for Oregon State this offseason, nearly six months after Howard gave his commitment to Wisconsin.

At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Howard will need to bulk up to play defensive end in the SEC, but he has an impeccable motor and brings great energy to the field every time he steps between the white lines.

He recorded 86 tackles and 10 sacks as a high school senior last fall.
