Report: Missouri linebacker Michael Scherer suffers torn ligaments
A tough season on the field may have just gotten much worse for Missouri as redshirt senior linebacker Michael Scherer has reportedly suffered two torn ligaments against Middle Tennessee last Saturday.
This news of Scherer’s injury comes from Maneater sports editor Peter Baugh. Baugh is reporting Scherer has torn both his ACL and his MCL:

After suffering the injury against MTSU, the immediate prognosis looked bleak for the linebacker:

While the Tiger defense has been struggling this season, Scherer was playing at a high level in recent weeks, as he recorded 23 combined tackles against LSU and Florida. In his distinguished Mizzou career, Scherer has recorded 266 tackles over his four-year career and averaged over 100 tackles per season the last two years after playing sparingly as a freshman.
Judging by this tweet, the news of the severity of Scherer’s injury was likely known immediately from the training staff during the MTSU game:
After Scherer got hurt, his dad came down from the stands and hugged him for about 4 minutes. Very powerful moment
