Ole Miss’ star-studded 2013 recruiting class has a year of experience under its belt, and a number of players from that class have made tremendous contributions to the Rebels’ 3-0 start to the season.

Laquon Treadwell, Robert Nkemdiche, Tony Conner and others have shown there will not be a sophomore slump in Oxford this season. Here’s a breakdown of how the Rebels’ 2013 recruits have fared through three weeks:

  • Quincy Adeboyejo: Adeboyejo has played a modest role in a deep group of Ole Miss wideouts, catching 11 passes for 121 yards and a touchdown through three weeks. He is tied for fourth on the team in catches and ranks fifth on the team in yards, but has done enough to establish himself as another threat that opposing defenses must worry about in the Rebels’ offense. Should one of Ole Miss’ starting wideouts go down, it won’t experience much drop-off by sliding Adeboyedjo into the lineup.
  • Tony Conner: Conner has shared time with Mike Hilton at the Huskie position in the Rebels’ defense, recording eight tackles, a tackle for loss and an interception so far this season. Conner is among the more versatile members of the defense in his ability to both stop the run and cover opposing receivers in the passing game. When he hits an opposing ball-carrier, he makes it count, and his rotation with Hilton should keep both players fresh late in the season.
  • Mark Dodson: Dodson has seen limited time at tailback in a backfield that has been unable to gain any traction in 2014. He has just 16 carries for 60 yards and a touchdown this season, and has just 33 yards in Ole Miss’ last two games combined. He’s also caught three passes out of the backfield for 15 yards, but Dodson remains on the outside of the starting offense looking in.
  • Evan Engram: Engram has looked more like a wide receiver than a tight end at times this season, catching 11 passes for 153 yards. He’s been a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses, lining up with a hand in the ground like a traditional tight end as well as in the slot and even on the outside like a wideout. The one glaring hole in his season to this point is his lack of touchdowns. Engram is a big target and a dynamic athlete in an offense that has struggled to run the ball. It is baffling that he has yet to score a single touchdown, even against teams like Vanderbilt and UL Lafayette. Look for the Rebels to target Engram more often in the red zone after the bye week.
  • Robert Nkemdiche: The former No. 1 recruit has played well in all three of the Rebels’ victories, and at times has looked like the dominant force many expect him to be by the end of his college career. He’s made six tackles in 2014 along with a tackle for loss, a sack, a quarterback hurry and a pass breakup, and has collapsed a number of pockets to aid his teammates in their pursuit of opposing quarterbacks. The numbers speak for themselves, but Nkemdiche’s impact has extended far beyond his statistics this season.
  • Laquon Treadwell: Treadwell remains Ole Miss’ No. 1 wideout, although defenses have made it a priority to contain him so far this season. He’s been aided by the play of his fellow receivers, amassing 15 catches for 184 yards and a touchdown this season, but is on pace to catch fewer passes and score fewer touchdowns than he did as a freshman. Treadwell has been as effective as a decoy as he has as a pass-catcher, opening up other areas of the field for his teammates to make big plays in the passing game. However, when a tight situation arises, Treadwell is the first man quarterback Bo Wallace looks to for a key completion.
  • Laremy Tunsil: Tunsil has been a bookend left tackle for the Rebels this season, but the rest of the offensive line has struggled at times, allowing six sacks and an SEC-worst 22 tackles for loss. Wallace’s blindside has remained clean this season, which has helped him throw for 1,023 yards in three games, two of which he exited early during garbage time. As the rest of the Rebels’ offensive line rounds into form, Tunsil will be asked to carry the load up front, allowing the Ole Miss offense to continue its stellar play in 2014.
