Not happy with a four-team Playoff?

More football is good, so we’ve decided to expand the season by several weeks with the introduction of the SDS 64, a ‘Winter Madness’ style tournament with an emphasis on conference championships, strength of schedule and any factors we see fit. Each region has its own theme, dominant teams and laughable neutral site hosts.

Just putting this out there: 12 SEC teams made the field.

THE SDS 64 SCHEDULE

  • MONDAY: Phyllis Region
  • TUESDAY: Family Time Region
  • WEDNESDAY: Chrome Dome Region
  • TODAY: Crab Legs Region
  • Dec. 15: Round of 64 results
  • Dec. 16: Round of 32 results
  • Dec. 17: Round of 16 results
  • Dec. 18: Round of 8 results
  • Dec. 19: Final Four, Champion

Florida State is the top seed in the SEC-heavy ‘Crab Legs Region’ with three possible games against teams from the nation’s top conference before the final four. Do we really need to explain what inspired the Crab Legs name? All games will be played in various Publix parking lots around the state of Florida. It’s important to note that Field Turf has been provided to help with player safety. Six SEC teams are in this region, led by second-seeded Ole Miss.

BREAKING DOWN THE CRAB LEGS REGION

SEC teams: No. 2 Ole Miss, No. 4 Mizzou, No. 5 Auburn, No. 8 Arkansas No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 South Carolina. Darkhorses: No. 7 Louisville, No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 South Carolina. Betting favorites: No. 1 Florida State, No. 3 Michigan State.

Intriguing matchups: Mizzou vs. Auburn in the round of 32? It’s one of two SEC vs. SEC games likely to happen in the second round if Tennessee can knock off seventh-seeded Louisville. In the 9/8 game, we’re seeing a Texas Bowl showdown between Arkansas and the Longhorns. The winner gets No. 1 Florida State assuming the Seminoles crash Louisiana-Lafayette’s upset party.
