Using each player’s 247Sports Composite rating, here’s how the SEC’s top defensive end commits stack up and where they stand nationally against other standouts at the same position:

1. ALABAMA: Mekhi Brown, 6-6, 220, Columbus, Ga., WDE, Four-Star (3): The rich get richer as Alabama adds another talented piece to its defense. Mekhi Brown ranks as the No. 3 weak side defensive end after recording 56 tackles and five sacks as a junior in 2013.

2. GEORGIA: Jonathan Ledbetter, 6-4, 265, Tucker, Ga., SDE, Four-Star (6)

3. GEORGIA: Natrez Patrick, 6-3, 220, Atlanta, Ga., WDE, Four-Star (5)

4. SOUTH CAROLINA: Shameik Blackshear, 6-5, 240, WDE, Bluffton, S.C., Four-Star (6): The Gamecocks need help at defensive end. That much was evident last week as South Carolina failed to pressure Tennessee and dual-threat quarterback Joshua Dobbs. Blackshear’s best attributes are his SEC-ready phrase and hand quickness.

5. SOUTH CAROLINA: Arden Key, 6-5, 230, Atlanta, Ga., WDE, Four-Star (8):

6. TEXAS A&M: James Lockhart, 6-2, 251, Ennis, Texas, SDE, Four-Star (7): Freshman Myles Garrett has already broken the SEC freshman sack record through his first nine games. The Aggies look to continue that success with the James Lockhart, who excels at closing speed and pursuit.

7. GEORGIA: Chauncey Rivers, 6-2.5, 247, Stone Mountain, Ga., WDE, Four-Star (9):

8. TENNESSEE: Andrew Butcher, 6-2, 245, Alpharetta, Ga., SDE, Four-Star (11): Andrew Butcher is one of seven defensive lineman committed to Tennessee. Along with fellow four-star weakside end Darrell Taylor, defensive tackle Shy Tuttle and five-star tackle Kahlil McKenzie, Butcher looks to continue the revamping of Tennessee’s young defense.

9. TENNESSEE: Darrell Taylor, 6-4, 220, Hopewell, Va., WDE, Four-Star (12):

10. GEORGIA: Michael Barnett, 6-5, 258, Dorchester, S.C., SDE, Four-Star (12):
