The 11th installment of our SEC Heisman Watch features an Auburn running back who is quietly taking the league by storm this season:

SIZZLING

  • Amari Cooper, WR, Alabama: For the first time this season, Cooper’s ahead of Dak Prescott in our SEC Heisman race after having a hand in Saturday’s win over the Bulldogs. The junior wideout eclipsed the 1,300-mark this season with 88 yards and a touchdown against the SEC’s worst pass defense. For the most part Mississippi State did a good job keeping Cooper’s yards-after-catch to a minimum, but it wasn’t enough.
  • Dak Prescott, QB, Mississippi State: Marcus Mariota likely wrapped up the award over the weekend after Prescott turned it over three times during a loss at Alabama. It was his opportunity to sway voters in his direction, but top-ranked Mississippi State couldn’t deliver.

WARM

  • Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia: The talented freshman exceeded 140 yards rushing for the fifth consecutive game and he’ll get the bulk of the carries the rest of the way with Todd Gurley sidelined for the season.
  • Josh Robinson, RB, Mississippi State: Robinson’s only carried the football 18 times over his last two starts, but did record six receptions for 69 yards. His numbers are fading, but the Bulldogs are very much in the Playoff race with big games remaining.

FIZZLED OUT

  • Cameron Artis-Payne, RB, Auburn: After getting loose for a 26-yard touchdown on the Tigers’ opening possession, Artis-Payne managed just 60 yards on his final 19 attempts at Georgia, his first non 100-yard game since Oct. 11.
  • Nick Marshall, QB, Auburn: Marshall was held out of the end zone for the first time this season and completed just 47.8 percent of his throws in Athens. Auburn’s lost three of its last five games, ending Marshall’s Heisman chances.
