South Carolina’s punter has a unique charge unlike many others you might hear from a college-aged male, as senior Sean Kelly was reportedly charged with ‘malicious injury to a tree’ along with public disorder over the weekend.

Not since Harvey Updyke took his crazy vengeance out on the trees at Toomer’s Corner has a crime like this been taken place in the SEC. According to Josh Kendall of The State, Kelly posted bond on Friday following the incident.

Gamecock head coach Will Muschamp stated via teleconference that Kelly would not be suspended following the tree assault, “I am handling that within the program.”

Kelly has been South Carolina’s starter at punter the last three seasons in Columbia.
