You wouldn’t have known it watching him last season, but Texas A&M running back Tra Carson wasn’t 100 percent last season.

That’s according to coach Kevin Sumlin, who revealed to KAGS TV’s Colin Deaver on Wednesday that Carson played with a “severe” toe injury that ended up needing offseason surgery.

Carson still managed to have a solid season for the Aggies last season, finishing 6th in the SEC by averaging 89.6 rushing yards per game. Carson posted 1,165 rushing yards and 7 rush TDs. His yards on the ground were the most by an Aggies running back since Greg Hill went for 1,339 in 1992 when the school was still part of the Southwest Conference.

Carson added 29 catches for 183 yards and another score.

CBS Sports has the 5-foot-11, 227-pounder is rated as the 30th-best running back in this month’s NFL Draft and projects him to be an undrafted free agent.
