With the Hail Mary victory for Tennessee over Georgia on Saturday, the Vols are 5-0 for the first time since 1998.

The story is well known, Tennessee football was down from 2008-2013, and there have not been many thrilling victories that came down to the final moments as of late.

Saturday’s 34-31 last-second victory over Georgia ranks among the best since the 1998 national championship season.

Here’s a look at the top five.

1. 2016 Tennessee at Georgia

Tennessee rallied out of a 17-point hole.

It took its first lead with 2:56 to play.

Then it had to rally again. Only this time, it had one play and 4 seconds to do so.

A prayer was answered when Josh Dobbs connected with Jauan Jennings on a 43-yard reception for a game-winning touchdown.

2. 1998 Tennessee vs. Arkansas

The Vols were 8-0, an undefeated and a national championship were on the line, and they appeared down and out against No. 10 Arkansas.

The Vols trailed 24-22 with 1:47. Arkansas had the ball when the unthinkable happened: quarterback Clint Stoerner stumbled and fumbled the ball.

The Vols recovered at the Hogs’ 43. Travis Henry took over from there, running for the winning touchdown with 31 seconds left for a 28-24 win that saved what became a national championship season.

3. 1998 Tennessee vs. Florida

Long before the Arkansas comeback, the Vols found magic in Week 2 against nemesis Florida. After years of frustration of not beating the Gators with Peyton Manning at quarterback, the Vols finally broke through in the first year after he left.

They did it in dramatic fashion, too, with Jeff Hall winning the game in overtime with a 41-yard field goal for a 20-17 win over the No. 2-ranked Gators. That win ended a five-year losing streak in the series.

4. 2004 Tennessee vs. Florida

Until last week, the 2004 Florida game was the last game that Tennessee defeated the Gators.

At the time, the 2004 victory over Florida was the third victory for Tennessee over the Gators in four years. But Tennessee failed to defeat Florida again until this season.

James Wilhoit’s 50-yard field goal with six seconds left lifted the No. 13 Vols to a 30-28 victory over the No. 11 Gators. The Vols scored 16 points in the fourth quarter.

5. 2003 Tennessee at Alabama

The 2003 Third Saturday in October was a thriller. Probably the best game to be played in recent memory between the two schools.

The game was deadlocked 20-20 at the end of regulation, but the overtime periods made it a high scoring affair.

Five overtimes later, Tennessee went on to victory 51-43. Casey Clausen scored the game-winner on a QB sneak, and the Vols’ Jason Allen knocked down Brodie Croyle’s fourth-down pass in the end zone to preserve the Vols’ eighth win over Alabama in a nine-year span.
