Alvin Kamara and Cam Sutton are both getting closer to full health, but their status for Tennessee’s game against Kentucky is still up in the air.

Vols coach Butch Jones made that announcement during a Wednesday news conference, just two days after he said the pair of key players could be available this weekend. Kamara and Sutton were spotted wearing green, non-contact jerseys at practice Tuesday.

Kamara had flashed his explosiveness this year before getting injured against Alabama on Oct. 15. The running back had carried 64 times for 313 yards and three touchdowns, while adding three receiving touchdowns, before the injury.

Sutton, a preseason All-SEC cornerback, fractured his ankle against Ohio on Sept. 17.

The Volunteers (6-3, 2-3) can stay alive in the SEC East race when they host Kentucky (5-3, 4-3) at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday.
