There’s a soft, gentle father behind the chiseled shell of preseason Heisman candidate Leonard Fournette.

Football feels different this season for LSU’s star running back following the birth of his daughter, Lyric, soon after his freshman campaign. The 7-month-old diva dominates conversation and puts things in perspective for the future NFL ballcarrier.

“Having a child humbled me a lot,” Fournette said, according to NOLA.com. “It made me realize it’s not about me anymore. Every decision that I make can affect her future, too. So, I try my best to be the best man for her; best father,” he said.

Fournette gushed over his daughter at SEC Media Days in July, struggling to contain a wide grin every time she was mentioned.
