Craig Kuligowksi, the mastermind behind Mizzou’s success rushing the passer over the last several years, is trying to motivate a potential star on this year’s defense.

One of the SEC’s most underrated assistants was brutally honest in his assessment of five-star freshman Terry Beckner after practice Monday, saying he’d like to see more effort snap-to-snap from the 6-foot-4, 300-pound rookie:

Beckner’s been a terror to block during fall camp and enters Saturday’s game No. 2 at defensive tackle behind Josh Augusta. He’s expected to see the field early against Southeast Missouri State.

Mizzou’s defensive line depth has been questioned throughout the offseason following the departures of Shane Ray and Markus Golden to the NFL, Marcus Loud’s dismissal and a season-ending injury to top returning defender Harold Brantley.

Charles Harris emerged as a leader up front during camp along with Marcell Frazier at the opposite end spot.
