Gamecocks commit Brandon McIlwain, South Carolina’s four-star gem in the 2016 class, posted an incredible statline during Friday’s win in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

One week after managing five touchdowns and more than 400 yards of total offense in a season-opening loss, the star at Council Rock North High made sure his team got in the win column this time around, recording 374 yards of total offense and three touchdowns to go along with a defensive score.

With his team trailing 13-0 in the second quarter, McIlwain took over.

“I was never nervous. I was never worried, because we can score at any time. We have a ton of great athletes and can score in a lot of ways,” McIlwain said, according to The Intelligencer. “We’re clicking right now, but we can always get better.”

As a junior, McIlwain tallied 3,200 yards of total offense and 38 touchdowns. He is considered the sixth-best dual threat quarterback in the country for the 2016 class by 247Sports.

McIlwain in June won MVP honors at The Opening semifinals at Nike HQ in Beaverton, Oregon.
