Days after good-naturedly criticizing No. 1 Ohio State’s Big Ten schedule, coach Bret Bielema’s Arkansas team lost to a MAC opponent.

Toledo stifled the typically-powerful Arkansas running game in a 16-12 upset in Little Rock on Saturday.

The loss sent the Razorbacks (1-1), ranked at No. 18 in both major polls entering the weekend, skidding out of the top 25.

Arkansas fell from the Associated Press Top 25 along with Tennessee (lost to Oklahoma) and Mississippi State (lost to LSU). The losses — all in home games — put a swift end to the SEC’s record 10 entrants in the edition that went public Tuesday, just five days earlier.

Brandon Allen has thrown for 720 yards in two games. But without Jonathan Williams (foot) and with a less than 100 percent Alex Collins (emergency room visit Friday night), the Razorbacks backfield languished against the Rockets.

Suddenly Bielema’s team, which had won four of five entering Saturday (including wins against LSU, Ole Miss and Texas), looks vulnerable. Arkansas hosts Texas Tech in Fayetteville next weekend before a string of games against Texas A&M, Tennessee and Alabama.
