Mark Richt has won 140 games and two SEC championships during his time as Georgia’s head coach. He has 12 wins over opponents ranked in the top 10. But the Bulldogs have also lost to a number of top 10 teams under Richt, and that fact has been a source of frustration for many Georgia fans.

Earlier this month, Georgia, which was ranked eighth at the time, lost 38-10 to then-No. 13 Alabama. Following the game, a number of fans sent emails to Richt, athletic director Greg McGarity and sports information director Claude Felton, expressing their views on the game and the state of Bulldog football. Some were positive, some were negative and others were a mix of both.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution gained access to many of those emails through an open records request, and posted some of them on its website.

This fan made a reference to Apollo 13 while expressing confidence that the Bulldogs will fix their problems and finish the season strong.

One fan went on a long rant, standing up for Richt.

A Georgia student paid a scalper $300 for a ticket, and regretted it after seeing the Bulldogs lose to Alabama. But that may be the last time he empties most of his savings account to go to a football game.

One alum was so frustrated after the loss that they sent an email to Georgia president Jere Morehead to tell him that UGA needs a new football coach. However, that person probably didn’t endear themselves to the university president by misspelling Morehead’s last name twice in the email.

Richt has a 140-50 record in 14-plus seasons at Georgia. His Bulldogs teams have finished the season ranked in the top 10 six times.
