Dak Prescott holds every Mississippi State passing record and is one of only four players in FBS history to record 60 passing touchdowns and 40 rushing touchdowns in a career.

But there is one thing left Prescott could do to bolster his Bulldogs resume — reclaim the Egg Bowl.

Prescott said it was one of the biggest reasons he returned for his senior year.

“That was one of the main reasons I was coming back,” Prescott said in an interview on “The Paul Finebaum Show” back in September. “(I) didn’t want to leave that egg up there. I definitely want to get the Egg Bowl back to where it belongs in Mississippi State. I’ll be ready for that last game of the season.”

Mississippi State beat Ole Miss in Prescott’s sophomore year. He was 11-of-20 passing for 115 yards and ran for a TD in the 17-10 victory.

Last season, however, the Rebels reclaimed the egg beating the Bulldogs 31-17 despite passing and rushing TDs from Prescott.

Without a chance to win the SEC West, there is less at stake in this Egg Bowl for Mississippi State. Regardless, it doesn’t get much better than receiving a chance to knock off a hated rival on Senior Night to cap off a magnificent career.

And the game isn’t completely meaningless in the conference standings. If Alabama falls to Auburn, Ole Miss would win the SEC West with a victory over Mississippi State. If the Bulldogs win, they would tie for second in the division.

A victory would also keep Mississippi State’s hopes alive for its first back-to-back 10-win seasons in school history.

Prescott’s legacy is safe, but he can add to it with an Egg Bowl victory.
