Alabama QB Jacob Coker threw the ball up high in the covered AT&T Stadium and Calvin Ridley ran under it and snared it for a 50-yard gain despite a strip attempt by Michigan State’s Demetrious Cox.

Ridley fell about one yard short of breaking a scoreless tie in the second quarter of Thursday night’s Cotton Bowl, aka a College Football Playoff semifinal. No problem — Heisman Trophy winner Derrick Henry took it from there, scoring the game’s first touchdown.

Though Henry had only 29 yards on his first 10 carries, the Tide led 10-0 late in the second quarter.
