Following Alabama’s big 38-0 win over Michigan State in the semifinals, the Tide defensive coordinator and Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart traveled to Jacksonville, Fla. to be with the Georgia team before its matchup against Penn State in the TaxSlayer Bowl.

But he is also working on completing his coaching staff while he’s there.

Sources at the team hotel say they saw Smart enter a meeting room with recently hired offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and  Miami offensive coordinator James Coley.

Coley is not being retained by new Miami head coach Mark Richt, and he worked with Smart at LSU, so he seems to be a good fit to join his staff.

Chaney was named offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach, but Georgia still has a need for a tight ends coach since John Lilly will be leaving Georgia after the bowl game.

Along with tight ends coach, Smart still needs to hire for three other coaching spots, including defensive coordinator
