A Tennessee quarterback will be making the move from Rocky Top to the Rocky Mountains.

Vols freshman quarterback Sheriron Jones has been granted his release from the school, according to his high school coach Pete Duffy and reported by 247Sports.com.

Jones did not see action in his lone season in Knoxville as he redshirted. He’ll hope to get some in the future at Colorado, which he’s chosen as his next destination, but he’ll have to sit out this season.

A four-star prospect, the 6-foot-2, 208-pound Jones was rated as the No. 7 dual-threat QB in the Class of 2015, according to 247Sports.

As a senior at Rancho Verde in California, Jones threw for more than 2,000 yards with 24 passing touchdowns.
