If the Dallas Cowboys are any indication, Johnny Manziel’s football career appears to be in serious trouble.

The Cleveland Browns waived the former first-round pick on Friday, deciding to move on in spite of the two years remaining on Manziel’s rooking contract with the team.

That opens the window for the troubled quarterback to receive a second chance from one of the 31 other teams in the league.

The team considered most likely to give him a look was the Dallas Cowboys, as owner Jerry Jones reportedly has long proclaimed his admiration for the Texas product, who he reportedly wanted to draft back in 2014 but was talked out of the decision by team personnel.

According to a report from SportsDay, the Cowboys are not interested in being that team that gives Manziel an opportunity at this time:

A source said the club has no intention of bringing the former Heisman Trophy winner in for a visit or signing him now that he’s been released by Cleveland. That same source said the Cowboys won’t pursue the quarterback and doesn’t forsee the club having any serious discussions about him, “until he gets his life back in order.”

Manziel is under investigation for potential violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, and he still has legal matters hanging over his head from an altercation with his ex-girlfriend earlier this year.

But notice that the source quoted didn’t rule out the possibility of him playing for the team at some point in the future. It’s up to Johnny Football to get things cleaned up off the field first.
