The Florida Gators landed a big commitment at a position of need Wednesday.

Four-star cornerback Elijah Blades (Pasadena, Ca.) committed to the Gators over Arizona, Utah and Nebraska, among others.

Blades is long and lean, listed at 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds. He’s rated as the country’s No. 26 overall cornerback and the state of California’s No. 26 overall prospect.

He explained to 247Sports why he chose Florida.

“Florida because when I went on the visit it was all love,” Blades told 247Sports. “Just knowing Florida would show love to a California [defensive back], they must really want him…Plus it’s my dream school.”

Blades is Florida’s eighth commitment for the class of 2017.
