On Friday, Kameron Martin, a four-star running back who had just been granted a release from the Baylor Bears, was officially visiting Auburn. During his visit, the Tigers were getting help from the coach Martin was initially intending to play for – Art Briles.

According to 247sports.com, Martin talked about how he still has a great relationship with Briles.

“He just told me Auburn is a great fit for me with Coach Gus Malzahn and his coaching staff,” Martin said. “He said if I was going to Baylor and he was there, it would be the same type of vibe (as at Auburn). He told me Coach Gus would take care of me.

“He said with him, it’s about the player, about the university. And shoot, he’s an offensive guru.”

Malzahn has been either an offensive coordinator or a head coach since 1991. Martin also talked about how Briles and Malzahn are friends, and how they discussed running backs throughout the nation.

“When Coach Gus went to Baylor a few months ago, they told (Baylor), ‘You guys have the best running back in the country,'” Martin said. “Coach Briles started laughing and was like, ‘We know.'”

Martin is ranked as the No. 7 running back in 247Sports’ rankings and chose Auburn over TCU Sunday night. Thanks to the release Martin was granted, he is eligible to play in 2016.
