According to ESPN’s Paula Lavigne and Mark Schlabach, a woman who accused Florida Gators Antonio Callaway and Treon Harris of sexual assault in December is boycotting a Title IX hearing being held today in Gainesville, Fla. The woman, her parents and five witnesses are not attending the hearing because the University of Florida hired a football booster to adjudicate the sexual assault allegation.

The article states, “In January, Florida suspended Callaway and Harris for violating the school’s code of conduct policy. They were barred from campus and took online courses during the suspension. According to sources, the woman reported to Florida’s student conduct and conflict resolution office that Callaway and Harris sexually assaulted her in early December. She didn’t report the incident to police.”

The report also stated where Callaway and Harris currently stand with the Gators:

“Harris, a junior from Miami, announced last month that he was leaving Florida and transferring to another school. Sources familiar with the case told ESPN that Harris agreed to leave Florida as part of a plea deal related to the Title IX case. He also apologized to the woman, the sources said.

“Callaway, a sophomore from Miami, has maintained his innocence and planned to fight the allegations in Friday’s student conduct code hearing.”

Last year as a freshman, Callaway was the Gators’ leading receiver, catching 35 passes for 678 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded two punt returns for touchdowns.

According to the article, head coach Jim McElwain hasn’t fully reinstated Callaway to the team, despite him practicing for the first time on Wednesday. Callaway was suspended from football activities before returning to campus for classes in June.
