Kentucky defensive tackle Regie Meant has left the team due to “personal reasons,” head coach Mark Stoops announced during his press conference Monday.

“He will be out indefinitely for personal reasons,” Stoops said. “I ask you to respect that and leave it alone. It has nothing to do with football, has nothing to do with us, or playing or anything like that. It has to do with himself. So, again, I ask you to just leave that and respect him.”

Meant made four starts and appeared in 10 games for Kentucky in 2015. He recorded 31 tackles including a sack against Florida, an assisted tackle for loss against Auburn and a forced fumble against Tennessee-Martin.

The 6-foot-4, 302-pound junior was expected to open the season as the starting defensive tackle on an inexperienced Kentucky D-Line.
