The no catch call on 3rd and goal of Tennessee’s opening drive will be one of the most controversial calls of  its game against Appalachian State.

Wide receiver Preston Williams seemed to have caught a touchdown in the back of the end zone before being brought to the ground. However, the referees ruled it an incomplete pass and the Vols were forced to kick a field goal.

Instead of moving ahead, Tennessee trailed Appalachian State 7-3 in the first quarter.
