Florida was a lot better facing SEC competition than lowly UMass, ripping Kentucky limb from limb Saturday in Gainesville 45-7.

Luke Del Rio was a lot more impressive at the QB position, completing 19-of-32 passes for 320 yards with 4 TDs — including a bomb to Antonio Callaway — and 1 INT. Down the field in particular, he was more productive than a week ago.

While Alabama is unquestionably the best defense in the conference, the Gators are most likely No. 2. UF completely shut down the Wildcats, who only accounted for 149 yards all game long. Most incredibly, UK completed just three passes from start to finish. Teez Tabor’s amazing interception was one of three for Florida.

Despite winning the East in 2015, the Gators came into this season somewhat disrespected. Coach Jim McElwain and Co. are apparently quite comfortable in their role as underdogs. In two weeks, they travel to division favorite Tennessee.
