When No. 1 Alabama visits No. 15 LSU this Saturday, the two SEC West teams will be battling to strengthen their playoff résumés and for division supremacy.

But could they also be duking it out over one of the nation’s top recruits?

Derek Tyson, an SEC recruiting analyst for ESPN, reported Wednesday that 5-star offensive tackle and Crimson Tide commit Alex Leatherwood will make an unofficial visit with the Tigers this weekend.

247Sports’ composite rankings tabs Leatherwood as the No. 7 overall prospect in the class of 2017. The 6-foot-6, 327-pound offensive tackle from Pensacola, Florida, is the second-best player in his state and at his position, according to those same rankings.

Leatherwood is a long-time Alabama commit, having given his verbal pledge in June 2015. His late visit to LSU certainly stirs up some intrigue in his recruitment.

The Crimson Tide (8-0, 5-0) and Tigers (5-2, 3-1) will clash at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday.
