Alabama defensive end Jonathan Allen was considered among some of the best players in college football throughout the 2016 regular season, according to an ESPN coaches poll.

A graphic that reads “Player of the Year (Not Named Lamar Jackson)” places Allen at No. 5 behind a handful of other high-impact names:

Allen, projected by some as the 2017 NFL Draft’s top overall prospect, has 135 tackles (40.0 for loss), 24.5 sacks, six pass deflections and three forced fumbles in his four-year career with the Crimson Tide.

Does he deserve more credit than this list suggests?
