Alabama’s football staff already included several former Crimson Tide players, but add former All-American DB Javier Arenas to it, too, according to TideSports.com’s Aaron Suttles.

Although Arenas’ off-the field role hasn’t been defined, to have him around the current players is huge for the coaching staff.

Arenas played at Alabama from 2006-2009, helping the Tide win the 2010 BCS National Championship. Following his career at Alabama, he was picked in the second round of the 2010 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

During his NFL career, Arenas played for five different teams.

Most recently, former Alabama RB Glen Coffee also joined the Tide’s staff as a student-assistant.
