True freshman cornerback Jamyest Williams played every single snap on defense for South Carolina against Missouri, according to a report from The State.

That was a total of 69 plays against a high-powered offense in his first college road trip. Just being on the field that much would be quite a feat for most freshman defensive backs, but Williams also made key plays — including an interception that helped the Gamecocks reverse momentum in the first half.

“They thought we were in quarters coverage, and he thought he had the flat wide open,” head coach Will Muschamp said about Williams’ interception. “He made a fantastic play on the ball.”

Williams made six tackles in the game and made a play on the ball during Mizzou’s final offensive play.

“He’s extremely quick, heck of play down here in the end zone to end the game,” Muschamp said. “Battles, and one of his most talented attributes is his competitive edge, the guy competes.”
