LSU is trying to move on after Saturday’s performance.

The Tigers traveled to Starkville for a matchup with Mississippi State, and it was certainly not the performance LSU fans were hoping for. The Bulldogs dominated the game on both sides of the ball on their way to a 37-7 victory.

The Tigers will now move on to their matchup with Syracuse, and coach Ed Orgeron announced on Monday that the team will be without one of its nose tackles for the game. DL Ed Alexander has been ruled out for the game which means LSU will have to get by with just one nose tackle Saturday.

Coach O also announced plans for LSU to get backup QB Myles Brennan more reps this week.

“We would love to get him in the game,” said Orgeron.

Starting QB Danny Etling struggled against MSU while completing just 13 of 29 passes for 137 yards, but it is unlikely that LSU is looking to make a true switch at the position moving forward. It is likely just a game that the coaching staff sees as an opportunity to get Brennan some reps in the event he is needed down the road.

Orgeron also took the blame for Saturday’s performance, but he does think the MSU game could be a turning point for his team.

“I believe this will be a turning point. I absolutely do,” said Orgeron. “We didn’t prepare them well enough.”

LSU will face Syracuse and Troy at home before resuming SEC play at Florida on Oct. 7. Kickoff for Saturday’s matchup with Syracuse is set for 7 pm EST on ESPN2.
