One of the most well-known streaks in the SEC is Florida’s 30-game winning streak against Kentucky.

Looking through that lens, SEC Network analysts examined why the Wildcats could snap the streak on Saturday in Lexington. One of those is quarterback Stephen Johnson, analyst Marcus Spears said.

“He’s been playing phenomenal football,” Spears said. “People say, ‘Marcus, what are you talking about phenomenal football.’ He’s been putting Kentucky in every position they need to be in. He’s running when he has to, he’s delivering the football when he has to, and their calling card has been Benny Snell. And Stephen Johnson hasn’t put them in any situation to take that away from them.”

“Don’t let history scare you away from this game,” said Jordan Rodgers, who added that giving Snell plenty of opportunities is another way Kentucky could win the game.

Spears added, “They should come into this game with confidence.”

Spears suggested the confidence is there because Kentucky has shown an ability to consistently score. The problems have been stopping the run, and giving up the deep ball at inopportune times.

“(Mark) Stoops may have him something,” Spears said.

But after all that, Spears was asked if Kentucky could pull the upset and, after a hesitation, he said, “False,” but he added that, “it’s going to be a game until the fourth quarter.”

Kentucky is coming off an upset win at South Carolina, while Florida escaped Tennessee with a win on the last play of the game.

The game will kick off at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
