Immediately after South Carolina’s offense struggled on Saturday in a loss at Texas A&M, coach Will Muschamp deflected questions about his offensive coordinator, Kurt Roper.

On Tuesday during his weekly press conference, the coach was asked again about the offense and if he would be more involved. He said he wouldn’t, and then offered his assessment of Roper and the offensive staff.

“I hired the offensive coordinator to do his job and it’s a cumulative effort of everyone in the room,” Muschamp said. “We’ve got a competent offensive staff and a very competent offensive coordinator. We need to be more productive.”

The Gamecocks are second-to-last in the SEC in scoring with 22.6 points per game. They are 11th in the SEC in yards (336 per game). They are 107th in the country in total offense, and 108th in scoring offense.
