Six weeks into the college football season, the Auburn Tigers (5-1) are making a strong push towards an appearance into the College Football Playoff.

Following a 44-23 victory over Ole Miss at home on Saturday, the Tigers moved up to two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 poll to No. 10.

Auburn’s lone loss this season came against Clemson, 14-6, on the road. The defending champions are the No. 2-ranked team in the AP Top 25.

ESPN.com ranks Auburn as the third-best one-loss team to rebound this season, stating:

Auburn doesn’t have to worry about the loss to Clemson; it has to worry about beating Georgia on Nov. 11 and Alabama in the Iron Bowl.

Auburn is favored to win each of its remaining games except for the Iron Bowl. The FPI gives the Tigers a 25.1 percent chance to beat the Tide.

Auburn’s best season under head coach Guz Malzahn came in his first year, when the Tigers went 12-2 and lost in the 2014 BCS National Championship Game to Florida State, 34-31.

The Tigers head to Baton Rouge, La., to face LSU (4-2) on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
