In his second season, coach Kirby Smart has Georgia off to a 6-0 start and No. 4 ranking in this week’s AP poll as the Bulldogs are 30-point favorites when they host Missouri on Saturday night.

That’s why ESPN college football analyst and former Notre Dame offensive lineman Mike Golic Jr. has pegged Smart as the Coach of the Year in the country, during a recent episode of SportsCenter according to Dawgs247.

“I would go with Kirby Smart for best coach. You look elsewhere in the SEC (outside of Alabama), this guy’s a (Nick) Saban disciple and someone who already in his second year has an undefeated team that’s now ranked in the top four. And they have uncommon depth. I saw that defense first-hand against Notre Dame, but on offense they’re the only Power 5 team with five rushers over 125 yards for that group.”

Golic Jr. added that Georgia is more than just running backs Nick Chubb and Sony Michel, but they have depth beyond them at running back, and at quarterback.

The Georgia defense is a main reason why the Bulldogs are undefeated. It sits at No. 3 in the country in total defense and No. 2 in scoring defense.
