Not many people are giving Tennessee much of a chance to win at Alabama on Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped the Vols from looking for any angle they can to gain an edge on the Crimson Tide.

For newly-named starting quarterback Jarrett Guarantano, that means talking with Ole Miss quarterback Shea Patterson and former Tennessee QB Josh Dobbs, according to Jesse Simonton of Volquest.

Last year, Dobbs was 16-for-27 passing against Alabama for 92 yards with an interception in the 49-10 loss. He had seven carries for a loss of 31 yards. In 2015, Dobbs was 13-for-22 for 171 yards and a touchdown in the 19-14 loss. He had 19 yards on 16 carries. In 2014, Dobbs had 75 yards on 19 carries, and was 19-for-32 for 192 yards, two touchdowns and an interception in a 34-20 loss.

Patterson didn’t play against Alabama last season, but this year, in a 66-3 loss, the Ole Miss quarterback was 14-for-29 for 165 yards and two interceptions. He had eight carries for a loss of 16 yards.
