Can any top 10 team take down Alabama?

The Crimson Tide are rolling and look unstoppable so far this season. They headed to the bye week with a perfect 8-0 record and the Tide have put up a historic start in SEC play.

It seems nearly inevitable that the Tide will head to Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game with an undefeated record. Alabama looks destined for another trip to the Playoff and shot at the national championship, and it is fair to wonder if Alabama can finish the season undefeated.

Matt Zenitz with AL.com shared what Danny Sheridan’s odds would be for Alabama against every top 10 team in the nation, and Alabama would be a strong favorite in many of them.

The Crimson Tide come in at a nine-point favorite over No. 2 Penn State and a 14-point favorite over No. 4 TCU with the game being played on a neutral site. Wisconsin, Miami, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma would all be double-digit underdogs against the Tide. It is interesting that there are two teams currently outside of the top four that would have a closer spread than Penn State.

The two teams with the closest spread in a matchup with the Tide? No. 6 Ohio State and No. 7 Clemson. The Buckeyes come in at a seven-point underdog while the Tigers have the closest spread of any team at six points.

What about No. 3 Georgia, Alabama’s potential matchup in the SEC Championship Game? Well, Kirby Smart and the Bulldogs would currently be a 14-point underdog against Alabama in Atlanta. The Bulldogs are playing well and gaining confidence every week, but Alabama is an entirely different beast than what Georgia has seen so far.

Anything can happen when the games kick off, but the odds listed illustrate just how special Alabama continues to look under Nick Saban. The Tide look to be the deepest and most talented team in the country yet again. It will certainly take a special effort to take them down.
