The chase for top recruits never stops, and one of Ohio State’s recent scholarship offers could impact both Alabama and Kentucky.

The Buckeyes recently offered a scholarship to four-star QB Jarren Williams. That is significant because Williams has been committed to Kentucky since May. What is even more intriguing is that Ohio State already has a commitment from four-star QB Emory Jones for 2018.

Why would Ohio State make a move for Williams with Jones already in place? Well, Jones recently made an official visit to Alabama, and the Crimson Tide appear to be pursuing Jones. That is significant as the Tide do not currently have a QB commit for the class of 2018.

Anything is possible, including both Williams and Jones honoring their current commitments, but it is not uncommon for a recruit to flip schools as circumstances change. If Alabama is able to swing Jones, it could set off a struggle between the Buckeyes and Wildcats for Williams’ services.

Both players are listed as dual-threat QBs and are ranked impressively on the recruiting boards. Williams is ranked by 247 Sports as the eighth best dual-threat QB in the country and 22nd player from Georgia for 2018. Jones is ranked by 247 Sports as the third overall dual-threat QB in the nation and sixth best player from the state of Georgia for 2018.
