As Butch Jones was making his exit from Tennessee, he called at least one recruit to talk about his departure and his future, possibly with the player again.

Former Tennessee commit Tanner Ingle relayed part of a conversation he had with Jones to the Orlando Sentinel, who said the now former Tennessee coach called Ingle personally.

“I spoke with Coach Jones about 30 minutes ago,” the Orlando Dr. Phillips defensive back said about 12:30 Sunday afternoon. “He said he didn’t really expect that to happen, but it did so he told me to find a place to go, quickly … and that if he gets anything he will contact me.”

Ingle committed to Tennessee in June and reportedly had 36 offers, according to 247 Sports. He is a 5-foot-9, 180-pound 3-star cornerback.

The Sentinel reported that NC State looks to be the frontrunner for his services. Ingle is expected to take an official visit to N.C. State and possibly Virginia Tech.
